Infinity pool overlooking the sunset at Rà Signature Komodo, Labuan Bajo

Beyond the Komodo Adventure

Most travellers visit Labuan Bajo for the spectacular islands of Komodo National Park. But a memorable trip is also about where you return after a day on the water.

During our recent visit to Flores, we explored Rà Signature Komodo, a hillside hotel where contemporary design meets sweeping views of the sea. What stayed with us most was the view from above: islands on the horizon, boats drifting across the bay, and the warm colors of sunset.

01 / The setting

First Impressions, Framed by the Sea

From the shared spaces, the landscape takes centre stage. Wide windows open towards the coastline and nearby islands. It feels closely connected to Labuan Bajo rather than removed from it.

02 / Rooms & design

Warm Wood, Calm Interiors and an Ocean Outlook

The spaces we photographed pair timber finishes with woven ceiling details, soft lighting and subtle textile accents. They create a relaxed atmosphere without losing a contemporary feel.

Some of the most striking details appeared in the bathrooms: twin wooden basins, a spacious shower and a freestanding bathtub facing the bay. The photographs below show spaces we viewed during the hotel visit; they should not be assumed to be standard features in every room category.

A PRIVATE Pool with a View Worth Staying For

There is something special about looking across Labuan Bajo from the water. The long pool edge visually draws your eyes towards the bay, while the hillside and scattered islands form the backdrop.

04 / Golden hour

Sunset Is the Main Event

As the light softened, the rooftop terrace became our favourite spot. There are places to sit with a drink and watch the sky change colour above the sea. We returned to this view again and again with the camera.

05 / Food & downtime

From Breakfast with a View to Rooftop Dinner

Our photo diary includes a leisurely breakfast with a coastal outlook, savoury dishes during the day and a relaxed rooftop dinner after dark. Together, they give a sense of how an active Komodo itinerary can be balanced with time back at the hotel.

Wellness Spaces and Room to Unwind

We also visited the hotel’s fitness and wellness areas. The gym is equipped for a proper workout, while the treatment room has a warmer, quieter atmosphere for anyone looking to slow down after a busy day.

Our perspective

Who Would Enjoy Rà Signature Komodo?

From what we saw, this property is especially appealing to couples and leisure travellers who value a scenic pool, comfortable surroundings and rooftop sunset time. It can also be an attractive base before or after a day tour around Komodo National Park.

Our favorite part of the visit was the way the sea remained present throughout the experience — from the windows and terraces to the pool and sunset lounge.

Thank you to the team at Rà Signature Komodo for the warm hospitality during our visit.
